Health Record Form

Complete a "Health Record" form. Also downloadable under "Application for Admission". A medical practitioner's endorsement is not necessary. However, if the student has a medical condition that requires attention, please give further details and a recent medical report. Please include information of blood group, immunization records and parent's signature as consent for First Aid.

Photographs

A recent colour passport-size photograph of Student, Father, Mother & Guardian (if applicable).

Birth Certificate

Please provide a copy of the Student's Birth Certificate with the full particulars including place of birth, parents' name, etc. An extract is not sufficient.

Passport

Please include the following pages of each passport: cover, photo, particulars, expiry and visa page of the Student, Father, Mother & Guardian (if applicable). The original must be presented at the time of submission of the application or upon arrival prior to admission.

Identity Card (Malaysians only)

A copy of the Student and Parents' IC is required. If the Student has yet to possess an IC, please forward a copy later.

Visa (Non-Malaysians only)

The Malaysian Immigration Authority requests that all foreign students obtain a relevant Visa upon acceptance by the School. The School will provide the necessary letters to assist in your application to the authority. The Visa application is the responsibility of parents.

School Reports & Testimonial

An official copy of the recent year's school report and testimonial regarding the student's character and ability from the Principal/Class Teacher. For Malaysians returning from abroad and seeking approval from the Ministry of Education, please provide the last 3 years' school reports.

Lampiran 1 (Malaysians only)

For Malaysian students, the Lampiran 1 is an application form for submission to the Ministry of Education, seeking approval to study in an international school. The School will endorse this form if a place is available for the applicant and upon receipt of all other documents stated on this checklist and any other supporting documents.

Application Fee

A non-refundable Application Fee is required upon submission of an application. Payment may be in Cash, Cheque or Banker's Draft in Ringgit Malaysia (RM), or via Telegraphic Transfer. Pay to R.E.A.L EDUCATION GROUP SDN BHD. See Modes of Payment under "Fee Schedule" for further details.

An application is complete when the Admissions Office receives all of the above. The student's name will then be placed on the waiting list.

Guardian's Details

Applicable to students who are staying with an appointed Guardian. Parents must provide the School with the Guardian's Photo, Passport/IC copy, contact details, and a letter confirming the appointment.

Admission Procedure

Application

Submit an application to the Admissions Department. Please refer to Application Checklist for details.

Assessment

Applicants are scheduled for an assessment only after the application for admission is complete. All children will be assessed in their appropriate year group (see Year Group Placement).

The nature of the assessment varies for different year groups and may require meeting a member of the academic staff. This will also help ascertain whether a child requires support for special needs or learning difficulties. As we may not have the capability of meeting the needs of children with learning difficulties, the School may have to deny admission. Other reasons an admission is denied may include concerns about the child's academic records and/or behavioural display.

Children applying for a place into Year 7 to 11 sit for a written test in English and Mathematics. This is conducted at the Admissions Office and lasts approximately 2 to 3 hours. Other tests may be scheduled if necessary.

Specific dates and time for assessment correspond with the Year group and the term where admission is applied for.

Malaysian Applicant

REAL International School will submit to the Ministry of Education the completed Lampiran 1 and relevant documents only when a place is available for the applicant. Acceptance to the school is subject to written approval by the ministry. The response from the Ministry of Education may take several weeks/months.

Admission & Registration

Where places are available, admission of students into REAL International School is dependant on a satisfactory assessment. An offer of admission to the school is also based on the belief that a child will benefit from the curriculum offered and that his/her admission will not have a detrimental effect upon the education of existing students. It is possible a child is accepted on conditional status. The conditions will be mentioned on the Letter of Offer.

For Malaysians, parents will be notified upon receipt of an approval letter from the Ministry of Education. The child will be offered a place subject to availability. A place will not be reserved for the child upon submission of the application for admission.

The acceptance of the offer must be made prior to the child's commencement of school. The payment of the required fees constitutes the acceptance of a place and therein CONFIRMS the place for the child.

Where places are not available, applicants are placed on a waiting list for admission. However, the School reserves the right to assign priorities for admission or refuse admission for any reason it deems fit.
